Intro
This document should help you create a working toggle on a phone to toggle call routing on-demand. It will also allow the key to display a red or green status indicator. You must start by creating a timeframe and a routing user.
Creating the Time Frame
* In some cases this timeframe may already be built
- Click on Time Frames
- Click on your domain name under the Owner column
- Click on Add Time Frame
- In the Name field, enter Toggle (ensure capitalization and nothing extra)
- When field should be set to Always
- Click Save
Creating the Routing User
* In many cases this routing user will already be built.
- Navigate to Users and select Add User
- When adding a user ensure that the User's Scope is set to No Portal and uncheck Enable Voicemail and Add Phone Extension prior to selecting Add User at the bottom.
* Note that the caller ID on this user will not matter as it will never be making calls, its purely for routing.
Once the user is created you can set up the Answering Rules by navigating to the new routing user's profile.
Setting up the Routing
Setting up the "Toggle" Routing
- Navigate to the routing user's Answering Rules
- Click on Add Rule
- In the Time Frame drop-down select the Toggle time frame we created
- Select Call Forwarding Always and enter the destination you'd for the routing (call queue, user, attendant, etc)
- Click Save
Setting up the "Default" Routing
- Click on the Edit pencil for the Default time frame
- Set the Call Forwarding Always and destination for the rule
- Click Save
Notes:
The Toggle Time Frame must be at the top of the list.
You cannot have more than two Time Frames added to a routing user that you wish to use a toggle on.
Setting up the Toggle Key
Now that the Time Frame and Routing User are ready, we can add the button to the phone for the toggle.
You must first navigate to the user's phone configuration and enter the SNAPBuilder tool:
Once inside the SNAPBuilder tool you can create the key:
- Select an Unassigned key and set it to Timeframe Toggle
- In the Enter a timeframe field type Toggle (exactly how you spelled the Time Frame upon creation)
- In the Target User field, enter the routing user extension that was created
- In the Custom Label field, enter something to distinguish what the key is for
- Then select the up arrow next to Save and select Save and resync
Testing
You may need to point a DID to the new routing user prior to testing inbound calls. However, the user should now have a key on their phone that will change from red (Default) to green (Toggle) and toggle the Time Frame on the routing user. Pressing the key should make the answering rules change and appear this way:
