Info
Blocking callers can be done via the phone portal configuration in the Answering Rules, administrators and users with access to the answering rules can utilize this feature.
Our example:
Spam callers from: 987-654-3210 are calling the main business number: 281-949-0133.
I would like to block 987-654-3210.
Configuration
You may need to start by looking at your own Inventory to find the right user that is receiving calls, in our example: 2000.
NOTE: If your phone number is routing directly to a Call Queue or Auto Attendant, it is best practice to put a Routing User in the middle that is call forwarded to your Call Queue or Auto Attendant. This way you can insert rules like time-of-day routing or call blocking.
Navigate to Users
- Search for the user
- Click on the edit icon
- Select Answering Rules
- Click on Allow / Block
- Enter the number in the Block Numbers field
- Press the + button
- Once added, press Done
Caveats
- Unfortunately you can only block one number at a time, spammers will generally call from numerous unique numbers and it is difficult to impossible to combat this.
- There is currently no way to block callers based on caller ID name, only numbers.
