Shared Contacts
The Shared Contacts list allows an administrator (Office Manager scope or higher) on the phone system to add global contacts to appear in the directory for all users on the same phone domain.
Caveats and Gotchas
1. Keep the Shared Contacts list under 1000 entries to avoid portal slowdowns
2. Phone number syntax is important. Try to keep phone numbers to 10 digits with no punctuation.
Good: 8882900038
Bad: 18882900038, 1 (888) 290-0038 etc.
Adding Manually
Start by navigating to Users and click on Shared Contacts
You can manually add users by clicking on Add Shared Contact
Important rule: Phone numbers added to shared contacts must be 10-digit numbers without any symbols as seen below.
Adding Via Import
Contacts can also be added en masse by import.
You must first add a single contact to the Shared Contacts database and then click Export.
Then select the csv Export Format you prefer, and click Export.
Enter the user information into the sheet:
Then back under the Shared Users tab select Import, Browse to the edited CSV file, click Import
Adding users to the Shared Contacts list will update the company directory on the physical desk phones, the web portal/phone contacts, and the mobile app contacts list.
